A.K.A. the NOT at Home Page…
Somewhere in all my readings I recall a quote along the lines of “The terrible thing about the world is that you’ll never get to see all of it. The great thing about the world is that you’ll never get to see all of it”. I think it was probably Bill Bryson – but quotes are a bit like the world, there are rather a lot of them out there.
The point is a fair one though. I’ve had the good luck to get a chance to see what feels like a whole lot of places, as these blogs will attest – but it is barely even scratching the surface of the planet if you look at it like that. Happily, that means there should be lots more to come, and no likelihood of running out of destinations any time soon. I do plan to have a shot though… after all, everyone needs some unattainable goal to keep the motivation up!
At my place we have a map of the world with coloured pins and red string. The pins show where we’ve been – and the red string shows where we have trips planned. Any time there is no red string there is a slight air of despondency around the place, but it’s fair to say that never lasts very long. Which is probably why we we’ve never been able to afford any matching furniture. Just in the last few weeks we’ve put red string back on that map, and July 2019 is looking rather tasty. Check back then for canal boating across the Welsh border, a Croatian cruise, and a weekend at Lake Bled in Slovenia – just for some of the things we hope will be blog highlights.
In the meantime, below is the archive of major blogs. Please feel free to delve into the images and reflections of our travel. They are always written with one eye on being my own aide memoir and one on being a window into the places we get to, and while you’ll see them through my eyes, hopefully they also give you a little insight to what they are like.
